Mackenzie Maskery, one of St. James’ Student Interns for the 2018-2019 academic year, is involved in her fourth mission trip to the Dominican Republic. She is not asking for donations towards her personal trip expenses, but rather for the materials that her team will be bringing to the school and community.
Hey everyone!As some of you may know, for the past three years I have been travelling to an impoverished community in Barahona, Dominican Republic for two weeks in the summer to do missions work alongside an amazing team of youth and young adults. I am super excited to announce to all of you that not only will I be returning for the fourth time this year, but I am also now part of the leadership team that plans and executes all aspects of this missions trip!
There have been some very exciting changes to my trip this year, as I have been blessed with the opportunity to extend my time in the Dominican to be the full month of July! A longer trip is something I have felt lead to do for several years, and I am beyond excited to be able to serve in Barahona alongside 4 other team members for the two weeks leading up to the missions trip as well as the two weeks with the rest of the Bridge to DR team. I will be flying out on July 1 and returning on July 28th, and will spend the first two weeks preparing the house we will be staying in, building beds, running english classes for the community, and working with the local Dominican team to prepare for the arrival of the rest of our team on July 13th.
This will be an amazing opportunity to build stronger relationships with the community, strengthen my faith, and run more ministry programs at the school. However, this is also increasing the project costs of the trip. Therefore, I ask that you prayerfully consider making a financial contribution towards this extended trip if your situation allows. This money will go towards buying construction materials and other supplies for the ministry programs we will be running, buying more material donations that will be distributed to the community, as well as the cost of transportation and food. The final date for online/cheque donations to be received is June 1 , so if you would like to support me in this way, please follow the instructions below.
I have also received an updated material donation list highlighting the very important donations that we hope to collect first, although all are needed.
