The Anglican Chaplaincy at Queen’s

Situated on the doorstep of the Queen’s Campus, St. James has been welcoming post-secondary students and inviting them to become part of its life and ministry for decades.
In addition, this parish has been the focal point for Anglican Ministry on the Queen’s University campus since the early 1990s.

The Anglican Chaplaincy at Queen’s University

The Anglican Chaplaincy at Queen’s encourages post-secondary students and young adults to follow Jesus with intelligent and compassionate faith, transforming relationships and deep joy.
The Anglican Chaplaincy ministers to and with college/university students and young adults through worship, a young adult bible study, hospitality, and spiritual and practical care.
Students of many faith backgrounds or none find a warm welcome and a supportive community here.

Chaplain

Lisa Chisholm-Smith, an ordained Deacon in the Anglican Church of Canada, currently serves as the part-time Anglican Chaplain at Queen’s.
She works out of an office at St. James which is located on the campus at 10 Union Street West across from Walter Light Hall and the Grad Club.
She also serves part-time as St. James’ Children and Youth Ministry Coordinator.

Sponsoring Parish

St.James Anglican Church, Kingston is the sponsoring parish for the Anglican Chaplaincy at Queen’s and generously funds our activities.
Deeply rooted in the good news of God in Christ, St. James is a vibrant and inclusive church for people of all ages.
College/university students and young adults are encouraged to participate in any and all parish activities.
Some join the choir, others read Scripture lessons, some train to become licensed worship leaders, and others act as greeters or count the weekly offering.
