Do you miss singing? St James Anglican, St Mark’s Lutheran, and St Paul’s Anglican in Sydenham are joining forces to record a lessons and carols service for Christmas, and we need you to sing!
The service will begin and end with video mashups of “O come, all ye faithful” (v.1-3) and “Hark, the herald angels sing”, and all in our congregations are invited to participate by video recording.
If you haven’t recorded a video before, don’t worry! It will feel like you’re singing a solo, but you’re not. Your recording will be blended together with all the other submissions. If you’re not sure about how to use the technology, we encourage you to reach out to someone in your bubble for assistance, or to the e-mail address below. The more people participate in the production, the better!
Many of you will know the famous descants for these hymns. Sopranos and Tenors are all welcome to record the descants in your own range, in addition to the tunes. First record the tune for all three verses, and then record the descant separately.
If you wish to sing harmony, please do so only on verse 2 of each hymn.
INSTRUCTIONS:
PDFs of the music and the MP3 reference recordings are attached and available at the link below. Play the reference recordings on one device (computer), plug in some headphones, and video yourself singing along on another device (phone or tablet).
Upload your videos to this Google Drive folder: https://tinyurl.com/yyx85ytc
…or e-mail them, one at a time, to Michael Capon at musicdirector@stjameskingston
Please submit your video by 13 December.
