We will have a 9am style Book of Common Prayer Service (no music) and a 10:30am style Book of Alternative Services Service with music and hymns.
I will officiate at both services and our Biblical Scholar in Residence, the Rev. Dr. Bill Morrow, will preach at both services. Michael Capon will play the organ at both services and Nan Marlow and Bob Burkholder will assist with readings and prayers. Deacon Lisa will assist with the 9am style service.
I had technical difficulties with the 9am style service and ended up losing most of the file. I produced in its place a service using one that Lisa and I led in Easter of last year. The music, proclamation of the word, sermon, praise band at home and prayers are all from this Sunday. It is the BCP specifics of the service (canticles and prayers) that I had to edit in the service from last Easter. I hope you don’t find it too distracting. The good news is that those parts of the service have Lisa and me without masks, so we will be easier to hear.
Service Sheets will be E-mailed by Marilyn shortly (to those who requested it). They will also be available at the back of the church. If you are not receiving these and would like to, please E-mail Marilyn at office@stjameskingston.ca
Please join me for a coffee hour via Zoom at Noon.
We do not know when the lockdown will end, so from Sunday January 17th we will live stream a 9am and 1030am service. These services will be very similar to what we were doing before the lockdown with music at both services. We will have hymns at the 10:30 service as we are allowed to sing with 5 or less people in the church.

Men’s Group – Tuesday, Jan 12 at 7:00pm via Zoom
This is a reminder that we will be meeting on Tuesday, January 12 at 7 pm, with the expectation of beginning a brief check-in around 7:15.
We will start the year with a discussion of the imagery of Cain and Abel in John Steinbeck’s East of Eden. Don’t worry, you don’t have to read the whole novel; the relevant pages are available here. If you want to familiarise yourself with the story, there are some summaries online. Also, you might want to watch the movie starring James Dean, East of Eden portrayed one of his iconic roles.
